TO, Mummy, With Love

💫 I once went to a house with my Dad, a senior Doctor's abode. I met amazing souls there. I also saw an old frail bed ridden woman sleeping on a bed and a doting daughter to tend to her. That daughter has written a celebration of all that her mother was and will be.

Why then to read what she has to say?
Because that day isn't far away when you will need to write something like this or feel how Niti feels now. It's inevitable.

Every writer who writes dreams of dedicating a piece of their writing to the one who loved and lived with them/for them.

Some write a whole book dedicated to their mother, who can't herself. What are good kids for anyways?

This book was given to my father by Niti Bhatia and we both read this small, surprisingly full and up to the heart's brim gesture of love with nostalgia and respect.

Approximately 50 pages, this remembrance is so resolute, beautiful and poignant that to remember your mother, maybe you just need to read this book. From paying ode to her mother to recounting harrowing instances and medical difficulties, Niti's mom left an indelible impression on me and anyone who will read this, I can bet.

She is my friend, she is my guide
Taking pleasure and pain in her stride.
She is the master that I pray
She is with me, forever to stay.
